Strabismus (crossed or "wandering" eyes)

In many cases strabismus may be caused by an overly strong or weak muscle causing the eye to turn in, turn out or rotate too high or low. If the muscle is too strong, your surgeon may move the affected muscle farther back on the eye to weaken the relative strength of the muscle. If the muscle is too weak, the surgeon may “tighten” the muscle by surgically shortening the muscle. Most strabismus surgery requires operating on two muscles to correct the imbalance.

Contact your University Eye Specialists ophthalmologist to discuss surgical options for treatment of your strabismus.
