Post-Cataract Membranes
Post-Cataract Membranes / Posterior Capsular Fibrosis – YAG Laser Capsulotomy
After a cataract is removed, the capsular bag which had enclosed it is left in place and is used to secure the new intraocular lens implant in the eye.
Although cataracts do not return once removed, in some cases this residual capsule can gradually become hazy and begin to cause a decline in vision. This can occur months to years after the cataract surgery. A quick and painless in-office laser procedure can be performed to open this hazy capsule and restore sharp, clear vision.
